2 In Custody Following South Side Standoff

SOUTH SIDE (KDKA) – Two people were taken into custody following a standoff on the South Side Monday morning.

According to police, the incident started with a call for an attempted robbery on Baldaulf Street around 2 a.m.

The suspect allegedly attempted to stab the victim and also fired shots at them as well.

Officers were able to track the suspect down at a home on Baldaulf Street, but he refused to open the door.

The suspect fired a weapon, which prompted police to secure the area and call in the SWAT team.

Negotiators and SWAT personnel were able to make contact with the suspect, but he still refused to come out of the home.

Tear gas was fired into the home and the suspect eventually came out of the home.

The suspect and a female accomplice are facing several charges including, robbery and resisting arrest.

Their names have not been released at this time.
