EAST LACKAWANNOCK TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — An investigation is underway after state police say human skeletal remains were found Saturday morning in a wooded area of Mercer County.

According to state police, a hunter made the discovery around 8 a.m. in some woods about a half mile north of Route 80 and a half mile east of Route 19 in East Lackawannock Township.

Investigators say the remains will be “analyzed in detail and all efforts will be made to make a positive identification.”

State police say there’s “no suspicion of foul play at this time.”

The investigation continues.
