Man Injured After Crashing Into Butler Co. Restaurant

ADAMS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Police in Butler County are trying to figure out how an elderly man ended up wedged between a building after hitting three parked cars Friday.

People were sitting in the restaurant eating breakfast and drinking coffee when the accident happened.

"It sounded like an explosion. I thought one of our shelves had come down in the kitchen," Jimmy's Grille Owner Jim Leahy said.

What Leahy found in the parking lot looked much like someone had played a very bad game of musical cars.

"It's a miracle that he did not go through those windows. There were customers all along that wall," Leahy said.

Witnesses said the driver was an elderly man. He was the only person injured and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

According to police, he was traveling north on Mars-Valencia Road and for some reason, he veered off, hit three parked cars and wedged his vehicle against the restaurant.

"We had a mom and daughter jump up, another gentleman over there jumped up," Amanda Eichenauer said.

"He went airborne, hit the roof of our building and came down, slamming into my car - all three of these cars and that's where he ended up, against the building," Leahy said.

An emergency crew was inside the restaurant eating at the time so the driver was given help immediately.

Police have not released the name of the driver or his condition at this time.
