Hundreds Of Westmoreland Co. Kids Take Part In "Shop With A Cop" Program

GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- More than 350 children across Westmoreland County are participating in the Shop with a Cop program this week.

Most of the kids were victims of crimes or other tragedies throughout the year.

The kids are each given $150 to shop for themselves and others at local Walmart stores.

They do their shopping alongside a police officer so they can see that cops aren't only around when something bad happens.

Walmart also gives each child a new coat, hat and pair of gloves.

This is the fourth year Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Steve Limani has organized the program in Westmoreland County, and it's the best year yet.

More than $55,000 was raised throughout the year, which is more than any other program of its kind across the country.
