1 In Custody After North Side Police Pursuit

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- One person is in custody after a police chase on Pittsburgh's North Side Friday night that ended with a car on its roof.

Police say they tried to pull a car over on Perrysville Avenue for a broken taillight. When the officer got out of his cruiser, the driver sped off.

They gave chase for about a mile until the driver lost control on a hill.

He started sliding, and then flipped over on California Avenue.

"He rolled right out of the vehicle, took off on foot down on Beaver Avenue, which is below us," said Officer Paul Abel, of Pittsburgh Police. "The younger guys caught him and found a brick of heroin."

The driver, who officials say is a juvenile, was being checked out at the hospital.

Police believe the car he was driving may have been stolen.
