Police Investigating Westmoreland Co. Homicide

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating a homicide in Westmoreland County.

The body of a man was found in a trailer near Stone Quarry Road near Torrance State Hospital Saturday around 1 p.m.

Authorities won't say how the man was killed, but have a very specific description of the suspect and are hoping someone sees him and turns him in.

"There were other people in and around the residence," State Police Trooper Steve Limani said. "We believe that while this incident took place, so right now we're still at the point where we're doing an investigation and interviewing them."

The suspect is described as a man with dreadlocks, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180-200 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and Oakland Raiders skull cap.

He was also seen driving a maroon two-door car with a different colored maroon roof.

"It's been vacant for probably a couple of years now," Norm Simko of Derry Township said. "It's a rental property and then people just seem to come and go."

People in Torrance say they are surprised by the murder in the quaint neighborhood.

But police say they shouldn't be worried though, as the victim had only been staying in the trailer for a short time and it appears to be an isolated incident.

"It wasn't just somebody running around rampant in the neighborhood," Limani said. "We don't believe that took place."

"I don't think that anybody needs to fear anything," Simko said. "But again, you just don't know. It happened tonight."

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at the Greensburg Barracks.
