PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Arizona Cardinals have asked the Pittsburgh Steelers for permission to interview offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

The Cardinals want to talk to Haley about their head coaching after they fired former Steeler Ken Whisenhunt on Monday.

Whisenhunt was fired after the team finished with a 5-11 record despite getting out to a 4-0 start. They then lost their next nine games, including a 58-0 blowout to division-rival Seattle in Week 14.

The losing streak ended with a 38-10 win over the Lions in Week 15, but they closed the season with loses to Chicago and San Francisco.

NFL.com said Haley is a serious candidate.
