Shero Calls Vokoun Signing "Competition" For Fleury

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- Penguins General Manager Ray Shero joined Starkey and Miller on Sports Radio 93-7 The FAN to preview the upcoming season and how he sees things coming together in a shortened season.

Shero said the team signed backup goaltender Tomas Vokoun with the intention of giving starter Marc-Andre Fleury breaks over the course of a full season, but with a shortened season now in front of them, tells us how he plans on using the veteran backup.

Shero went as far as to say the signing will give Fleury some "competition" for his job, and each guy will push the other to be better.

We also got into the power play issues the team had last year, and Shero shared some insight into how they plan to make things work this year.

Things wrapped up with Shero discussing the potential emergence of winger Beau Bennett and the major role he could possibly play on this year's team.
