Sharpsburg Woman Accused In Alleged Inappropriate Relationship Appears In Court
SHARPSBURG (KDKA) — The Sharpsburg woman accused of having an inappropriate relationship with her son’s 15-year-old friend appeared in court Wednesday afternoon.
Susan Sundo is facing a long list of serious charges.
The disgraced, former director of the Sharpsburg Youth Recreation Center walked out of the magistrate’s office arm in arm with her attorney. Sundo had nothing to say to reporters.
KDKA’s Paul Martino: “They’re pretty serious charges, ma’am. Any response?”
Attorney David Shrager: “Ms. Sundo has no comment at this time.”
Sundo is accused of carrying on the alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy who used to sleep over at her family home.
Police say she is accused of texting the boy for alleged rendezvous. Her attorney wouldn’t talk about the accusations.
Martino: “You’ve read the affidavit where she’s accused of texting specific sexual acts she’s willing to perform. Any comment on that?”
Shrager: “Not at this time. I would need to be able to verify that independently.”
Sundo is the former director of the Sharpsburg Youth Recreation Center. But she was immediately dismissed when the charges surfaced.
Her attorney claims Sundo’s reputation has been wrongly tarnished.
“She’s a very ordinary, everyday housewife,” Shrager said. “These accusations are extremely upsetting to her as anyone could imagine.”
Sundo not only faces a minimum six years in prison, but she also has to cope with the fallout from her family.
“She’s very distraught with these circumstances,” said Shrager. “The families were all very close prior to this. Her children were very good friends. It’s upsetting.”
Sundo is free on bond. She’s been ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim. She’ll be back in court at the end of March.
