Jeannette Pharmacy Owner Releases Surveillance Of Break-In Attempt

JEANNETTE (KDKA) -- The owner of a Westmoreland County pharmacy has released surveillance video of an attempted burglary at the business hoping it'll help police catch the suspect.

Workers at Ranier's Compounding Laboratory and Pharmacy in Jeannette routinely review footage from their surveillance cameras mounted outside.

Last week, they got quite a show when a man walked up the door.

The video shows the suspect attempting to break in by striking the door repeatedly with his hands, his feet and his upper body, he kicks it several times and even tries to break the glass with a rock.

He does it at least three times and even tries another entrance on the side of the building.

The owner, who doesn't want to be identified, says there were even witnesses at a business across the street.

He worries this attempt is related to seven other recent pharmacy robberies in Westmorland County. In those crimes, the culprits were after Oxycodone.

"With the recent rash of pharmacy burglaries and break-ins, I'm hoping we can maybe capture this guy and take one more of these persons off the street, and enhance the safety of pharmacy owners and pharmacy employees throughout the county," the owner said.

Police have the surveillance video too, and are hoping someone recognizes the would-be burglar.
