PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Food chain Buffalo Wild Wings finds itself in the middle of a controversy, after gun bans pop up at company-owned restaurants.

Pictures from restaurants across the country are popping up on social media sites, showing a sign at the wing chain’s company-owned stores saying that guns are banned on the premises.

One look at the Buffalo Wild Wings Facebook page, and you will see complaints, and debates about the chain’s gun policy.

One user wrote, “given your stance on the second amendment, I can no longer support your business.”

Buffalo Wild Wings corporate headquarters issued a statement to KDKA-TV saying: “Buffalo Wild Wings respects the right of individuals to carry firearms. One of our top priorities is the comfort, safety and enjoyment of our Guests and we have elected to exercise our right to prohibit the carrying of firearms in our company-owned restaurants. We regret any inconvenience this may cause but believe that this long-standing position is in the best interest of our Guests and our Team Members. This position may vary in independently owned franchised locations.”

KDKA-TV checked with a few of the restaurants here in the Pittsburgh area, most of them currently do not have the sign up, but were going to look into the policy.

Pennsylvania law does allow those with a concealed weapons permit to have them in restaurants that serve alcohol, but private property owners retain the right to post a no guns allowed on premises if they choose.
