PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Rosita Youngblood joined The Mike Pintek Show to discuss a controversial landmark.
“Negro Mountain” is located in the Allegheny Mountain range, and Youngblood thinks it is time for a name change.
Youngblood has teamed up with Maryland legislators on a campaign to change the name of the Mountain to Nemesis Mountain.
Nemesis was the name of a slave for whom the mountain is named. Nemesis is said to have saved white settlers from attacking Native Americans. ”Negro Mountain” was originally named as a tribute to the war hero.
