PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) — ROOT Sports Penguins analyst Jay Caufield joined The Fan Morning Show today to break down the Pens’ 4-1 loss to the Islanders.

Caulfield explained that the Isles locked down everything the Pens had to offer on the power play, keeping them under wraps when they needed to.

“They weren’t crisp with anything they did last night,” Caufield said. “They need to get it rectified right away.”

He pointed out that the Pens were repeatedly being stuffed at the blue line, and were unable to generate a consistent attack because of it. He feels that the Pens need to get faster and improve in a number of related areas.

“Motion, movement, come with speed,” Caufield said. “There wasn’t enough speed coming up the ice at times.”
