PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) — Former Pitt Head Coach Walt Harris joined Starkey and Miller on Sports Radio 93.7 The FAN to talk about why he recruited Joe Flacco to Pitt and how they were the only Division I school to offer him a scholarship.

Harris talked about Flacco’s time at Pitt and said he came from a small school where he was used in a number of different ways, so he wasn’t exactly a polished quarterback when he got here.

When it came to discussing whether Flacco got a fair shake at Pitt, Harris said then starter Tyler Palko won the job originally and performed just well enough for them not to bench him.

Harris also went into detail about the recruiter at Pitt who found Flacco and what they thought about him when he first signed on to play there.

Harris said he still keeps in touch with Flacco adding that they text from time to time.
