Pitt's Chryst Recruits "Guys That Love The Game"

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- The Pitt Panthers' football program has signed 27 players, including eight locally, as they rebuild their program during National Letter of Intent Day on Wednesday.

"You know, all these guys love the game," Chryst said. "And that's what helped make them a good fit for us."

Three players are from the same team, Class A state champion Clairton.

Four in the recruiting class have already enrolled in school, including Waynesburg tight end Scott Orndoff and Allderdice defensive lineman Tyrique Jarrett.

"The approach we take to recruiting is being open and up-front," according to Chryst. "If that relationship started with dishonesty or just getting them to come, then it's a bad foundation."

Chryst said now he can spend more time focusing on hiring a defensive coordinator after Dave Huxtable left for a job at North Carolina State.

Pitt also announced they will play the Spring Game at Bethel Park High School on Friday, April 12.
