Penguins Fans Take Big Advantage Of Team Promotions

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Shortly after the NHL lockout ended, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that they would do special promotions to lure fans back.

Today the Penguins announced just how many people took advantage of those promotions.

According to the Pens, they distributed more than 190,000 free concession items, and sold more than 8,600 jerseys at half-price during the first four home games.

Fans received a voucher for three free concession items, and all merchandise at the PensGear stores was half price on the first four game days.

Among the free concession items distributed were 52,142 fountain drinks, 33,289 nachos, 26,633 pretzels, 22,258 hot dogs, 22,118 chicken sandwiches and 20,380 hamburgers.

In addition to 8,680 jerseys, the Penguins also sold 18,950 t-shirts and 8,776 hats at half-price.
