Local Business Built On Bacon Is Smokin'!

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Opportunity comes in lots of ways.

For Jared Lordon and Kelly Patton, both cooks on a local and national scale, it came in an old wood shed on the North Side.

"What they were doing previously there was roasting whole lambs, chickens and pigs for ethnic celebrations," says Lordon.

He and his partner saw the rotisseries and smoking equipment, and got the idea to make smoked meats like bacon, kielbasa, chicken, pork loins and more, and do it high-quality local ingredients. Now, their meats are ending up in restaurants and kitchens across the region.

KDKA-AM's Larry Richert and John Shumway talk to Jared Lordon about how he and his partner are building a business that is bringing home the bacon with their off the wall idea.

"I'm the guy that has crazy schemes and ideas," says Lordon. "This might be my last one."
