Man Dies After Crashing Into Tree, Then Creek

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating a fatal crash in Hanover Township Saturday morning.

It happened sometime before 9 a.m. along Purdy Road near Aunt Clara Road.

Authorities say 54-year-old Fredrick Speer III of Burgettstown was killed when his Jeep traveled off the northbound side of road and hit a tree, causing it to roll down an embankment. The car eventually landed upside down in a creek.

Police say he was found after being spotted by a passing FedEx driver.

Speer was pronounced dead at the scene.

No word on what caused the accident.
