Party Like A Star At The Pittsburgh Film Office's Oscar Bash

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Oscars will take place this Sunday in Hollywood, but Pittsburghers can celebrate in style here in town.

The Pittsburgh Film Office will host it's 13th annual "Lights, Glamour, Action" party at Heinz Field, where it will screen the awards show.

Attendees will get to walk down a red carpet lined by "paparazzi" and is black tie optional, or participants can dress as their favorite celebrities.

The event will also include a silent auction featuring Mellon Arena seats signed by Mario Lemieux, among other finds.

Pittsburgh Film Office Director Dawn Keezer stopped by PTL Friday to talk about the Oscar party, in addition to the film industry in Pittsburgh.

Over the past several years, film tax credits have brought many filmmakers to the city, generating a lot of revenue and creating jobs. However, now that the state's run out of tax credits, many local film industry workers are without jobs, Keezer says.

"It's a very slow time," Keezer said.

Keezer says the film industry has been bringing in more than $100 million for the past three years in a row.

The Pittsburgh Film Office's "Lights! Glamour! Action!" party starts at 7:30 p.m. Group tickets to the Oscar bash cost $75 each, Gala tickets are $125 and VIP tickets cost $250.
