Indiana Co. Man Killed In Tree-Cutting Accident
ARMSTRONG TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - A man was killed in a tree-cutting accident in Indiana County Sunday afternoon.
According to the Indiana County Coroner's Office, Jason William Drew, 30, of Armstrong Township, was killed while clearing trees in a field in Center Township.
Officials said Drew was using a chainsaw to cut down a large branch about 18 feet in the air, when the chainsaw got stuck.
He and his uncle tried to free the chainsaw by wrapping a chain around it and pulling on it with a tractor. The branch suddenly snapped and fell on top of Drew, who was pronounced dead at the scene just before 3 p.m.
The coroner said he died of blunt force trauma to the head and his death has been ruled an accident.
