PITTSBURGH (93.7 THE FAN)–NFL Free Agency begins at 4 p.m. today. Players will be free to sign with other teams, and to preview the madness, the Fan Morning Show spoke to CBS Sports “Eye On The NFL” writer, Will Brinson.
Brinson tells us about the trades that took place on Monday with Anquan Boldin and Percy Harvin. The Ravens only received a sixth-round pick for trading Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers. But, they would have gotten nothing in return if they let him walk.
Harvin’s former team, the Minnesota Vikings got much more of a return with three (including a first-round) draft picks. Seattle gets a wide receiver that is very talented, but comes with some baggage.
As for the Steelers, Brinson tells the guys that it’s more about who is leaving. With Harvin being traded from the Vikings, they have a desperate need for a good wide receiver, and Mike Wallace could help to partially fill that need.
Keenan Lewis has been rumored to go to Cleveland, but Brinson tells us there should be a lot of teams interested in him.
“I don’t care [which team I work for], I want to have him,” Brinson said.
We also hear his thoughts on James Harrison, and Rashard Mendenhall:
