Dixon, Panthers, Geared Up For NCAA Tournament

PITTSBURGH (93.7 THE FAN)--It's officially Tournament Time in the NCAA for college basketball. The eighth-seeded Pitt Panthers open the first round with a 1:40 p.m. matchup with Wichita State on Thursday. To preview the game, the Fan Morning Show spoke to Pitt Panthers' head coach, Jamie Dixon.

The Panthers travel to Salt Lake City, Utah for the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The travel is not of much concern to Dixon, who says that they have broken up the trip to make it easier on the team.

The most difficult aspect will be arriving in Utah, and having to practice, then deal with media day consecutively. A long day, but not one that Jamie is concerned about.

The altitude in Salt Lake City is something that the media believes could play a factor in the first round. Jamie knows the exact altitude, and tells us that the Panthers have played recently in the building, and altitude did not have an effect.

The Tournament is considered a "wide open field" with not many teams standing out as the cream of the crop.

Jamie said, "There is not much separating the top seeds, and all the way through."
