Walk On Wednesday: 'The Stadium's Not Beating Us... We Beat Ourselves'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Pirates color commentator and former pitcher Bob Walk joined The Fan Morning Show today for another edition of his weekly segment, "Walk on Wednesday."

The Pirates have dropped the first two games of a three-game set in Milwaukee by a combined score of 22-12, and Walk puts that on the Bucs' pitching staff as a whole.

"We pitched horrible," Walk said. "We just can't seem to find the plate here."

Walk doesn't buy the theory that these games can be attributed any sort of Miller Park curse.

"The stadium's not beating us," Walk said. "We beat ourselves."

Speaking of lackluster performances, Walk was not the least bit surprised to see the Bucs give up on the badly-struggling Jonathan Sanchez and designate him for assignment.

"We pretty much could see this coming for a long time," Walk said. "He was given every opportunity- and then some- to turn this thing around... he apparently just doesn't have it anymore."

"Walk on Wednesday" can be heard every Wednesday on The Fan Morning Show at 8:40 a.m.

Walk's comments can be heard here:

Bob Walk 5-1
