PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Pirates’ Brandon Inge signed with the Pirates in the off-season, a move that some thought would help strengthen the bench.

Although he has been starting recently for the injured Neil Walker, Inge told Bob Pompeani that the bench is a strength for the club.

“It’s full, it’s loaded, that’s for sure,” Inge said. “There’s not really a weak spot that you can put a finger on … Clint (Hurdle) can go to any section, any part of the bench that he wants and pull whatever he needs off of it.”

When asked by Pompeani why he chose the Pirates, Inge said that the Pirates gave him an opportunity.

“I’ve always loved the city, and it was just a great fit for me,” he said.
