Authorities ID Turnpike Motorcycle Crash Victim

PENN TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Authorities have released the name of the man killed in a motorcycle crash early this morning along the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Westmoreland County.

The crash happened just after 3 a.m. on the westbound side of the road at Mile Marker 63.5 in Penn Township.

According to the Westmoreland County Coroner's Office, 24-year-old Leonard Rhominski of McKees Rocks died of multiple blunt force trauma to the head, neck, chest and extremities.

Investigators say the motorcycle was headed west when Rhominski failed to negotiate a slight left-hand curve in the road.

The motorcycle left the roadway and then hit the guardrail.

Rhominski was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner's office reports that he was wearing a helmet and speed may have possibly played a factor in the accident.
