Woman Injured After High-Speed Police Chase; Suspect On The Loose

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The search continues for a driver with a lead foot after a wild police chase through several communities.

At one point, the driver hit another car but even that wasn't enough to stop him.

The chase ended within city limits but started in Wilkinsburg when a red car with a stolen license plate traveled through the area before 7 p.m. Thursday.

KDKA's Christine D'Antonio Reports:

Neighbors in the 7500-block of Penn Avenue in Point Breeze heard what sounded like a high-speed police chase and then heard the crash.

"He was over-apologizing," one neighbor says. "We heard him apologizing that he was really sorry."

Park Place neighbors say they saw three crashed cars.

A man in a Honda was hit by the high-speed chase suspect's red car, and a woman in another Honda was hit by a Wilkinsburg police officer's cruiser during the chase.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The man hit by the suspect is okay.

Police called off the chase because of the suspect's erratic driving.

That person is still on the loose.

KDKA's Heather Abraham Reports:

However, police may have made one arrest possibly in connection with the case or an incident that happened just prior to the chase. The person taken into custody was not the driver wanted in the chase.

Police continue to investigate.
