Nervous Fans Rejoice As Pens Win In OT, Move To Next Round

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Fans say they were nervous and that the game was a nail biter.

Hundreds of the Penguins' faithful gathered outside of CONSOL Energy Center at the big screen Saturday evening to watch Game 6 of the first-round playoff series against the New York Islanders.

The Isles came out strong, scoring early in the first period.

"They're not playing as a team, that's what they need to do," one fan said of the Penguins. "Get the puck out and drive the other way."

"Off to a slow start, but they can bring that back in the second and third," another fan said.

And that's is exactly what the Pens did, tying things up 2-2 in the second and 3-3 in the third, sending the game to overtime.

Through every moment of the game, fans were focused on every move.

"I'm definitely nervous," said one Pens' fan. "It's awesome. I love the feeling."

"My heart's still beating really fast," added another. "I lost my voice."

And following Brooks Orpik's game-winning goal, fans say they feel confident the Pens will take home the Stanley Cup this year.

"We're gonna get the Cup this year," said one fan. "No doubt about it. That cup is ours this year."
