Powerball Jackpot Grows To $600 Million

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- The Powerball jackpot has jumped to $600 million, a major climb just a day before Saturday's drawing.

The announcement Friday by the Multi-State Lottery Association means ticket sales have soared as the frenzy grows for a chance to win the big prize.

According to lottery officials, the jackpot rolled over to $475 million annuity value after Wednesday's drawing, and has grown from $550 million, to $600 million.

There is a chance the drawing could even go up more before Saturday's drawing.

The $600 million jackpot is the second-largest jackpot in the game's history.

The jackpot has a $376.9 million cash option.

The next drawing is scheduled for Saturday, May 18. Tickets will be available until 9:59 p.m. that evening.

But the Pennsylvania Lottery is advising players to purchase tickets early to avoid last-minute rushes.
