"Uniontown Ninja" Charged In Robbery, Mimics Past Crime

FAYETTE COUNTY (KDKA) -- A Fayette County man admitted to a bizarre robbery telling police that people call him the "Uniontown Ninja."

The man, 29-year old Justin Jellots, is accused of breaking into a car on Southwood Drive in South Union wearing a ninja costume.

When the owner tried to stop him, he attacked her with a knife. She suffered injuries to her face and shoulder.

Jellots' mother declined to speak on camera but tells KDKA her son was drunk when he confessed to police.

Jellots spoke to KDKA back in March 2011 when his friend was charged for leaving a young child home alone as he wandered the streets of Scottdale, also dressed as a ninja.

"There's obviously something wrong with him," Jellots said at the time.

Now, Jellots is charged with wearing a similar costume.

He was also charged in March of this year in an incident involving a police officer at Uniontown Hospital.

Sources tell KDKA that investigators will now look into whether any of these cases are connected to an unsolved string of Fayette County car break-ins where the suspect wore a ninja costume and brandished a sword.

Jellots is in the Fayette County jail unable to post $35,000 bond.
