Weekend Closures Announced For Squirrel Hill, Liberty Tunnels

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Two major tunnels around the area will be experiencing lane closures this weekend.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, motorists should avoid the Liberty and Squirrel Hill Tunnels this weekend.

The inbound side of the Squirrel Hill Tunnel will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday and will not reopen until 5 a.m. Monday.

However, the outbound side of the tunnel will remain open.

As for the Liberty Tunnel, the outbound side will close two hours after the end of the Pittsburgh Pirates game Friday night and will remain closed until 6 a.m. Saturday.

It will close again Saturday night two hours after the end of Game 1 between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference Finals. Again, it will remain closed until 6 a.m. Sunday.

Then, it will close from 10 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday.

As for the inbound side, it will close from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 p.m. Saturday and again from 10 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Monday.
