Restaurant Owner Witnessed Aftermath Of Attack On Mike Adams

SOUTH SIDE (KDKA) - A woman who owns a restaurant on the South Side said she saw part of what happened when Steeler Mike Adams was stabbed.

Moeun McSwiggen from Cambod-Ican Kitchen said she went outside for a break at 3 a.m. when she heard the commotion.

She said she saw a man with his arms up asking, "Is this for real?"

Only later did she realize it was Adams, who she knows from his visits to her restaurant. In fact, she said he refers to her as "mom."

She said he lifted his shirt to show her his stab wound. Police said he was stabbed in the stomach and in the arm, when three men tried to steal his truck.

McSwiggen helped Adams and called for help.

Adams was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital and underwent surgery. He tweeted out a picture of him giving a thumbs up. He expects to be ready for the start of training camp.

Adams' agent said police have recovered a cell phone apparently dropped by one of the suspects.

Police are looking at surveillance video from the area to see if it can provide clues.
