Tomlin Talks Youth Football, Steelers' Rookies & More
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin talked exclusively with Joe Starkey of Starkey, Miller and Muller on The FAN about a number of topics ranging from what he has seen from some of his rookies to what he thinks about dealing with the Pittsburgh media.
First though, Tomlin talked about the youth football camp he held today and how the impact of camps like this can last a lifetime.
"It's amazing what you remember and the impact it has on you. I remember specific plays that I made at a University of Maryland football camp in 1983 when I was 11-years-old. Now I don't remember many plays that I made in college, but I remember plays that I made in the youth camp. It continually reminds me what we're doing out here with these young people that we provide them with a lifetime of memories."
When it comes to his rookie class this year, Tomlin joked about the player he has singled out as the one he'll give a hard time to because of the high opinion this player holds of himself.
"Le'Veon (Bell) is just the one that I've picked out in this class that I'm gonna give him a little bit, and he probably deserves it," Tomlin said.
Tomlin also joked about rookie return man Reggie Dunn and the claims he has made that he ran a 4.2 40-yard dash.
Things wrapped up with Tomlin addressing his relationship with the media and if he has some guys he likes and some he just can't stand.
