BANKSVILLE (KDKA) – Some motorists around the area ran into problems during the Wednesday morning commute due to flooding.

While the torrential downpours flooded countless roads and stranded motorists, one road was a scene of desperation and crisis.

Banksville Road was essentially washed-out. Rain kept falling, the water rose and the only traffic allowed through were those of swift water rescue teams.

As a result of the flooding, Banksville Road is believed to have suffered heavy road damage.

In Robinson Township, crews had to improvise in order to rescue a woman stranded in her SUV.

The driver was trapped among rising waters. Officials used a nearby backhoe to drive out to the SUV. Eventually, they were able to get the woman inside and escort her to safety.

Finally, on South Park’s Piney Fork Road an officer waded out to a car that had become swept up in floodwaters.

As for Banksville Road, crews have to clean it up and see if the road that is okay before they make it passable.

They won’t have much time to get to work because the next line of storms is set to move into the area around 4 p.m.
