Homecoming Event To Be Held For Wounded Marine

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Pittsburgh Marine Sgt. Doug Vitale is finally coming home this weekend and you're invited to be there for the hero's welcome.

Vitale lost both legs and suffered a traumatic brain injury in an IED explosion in Afghanistan nearly two years ago.

He's been in a rehab center in Tampa, but this Saturday, he is finally coming home.

The public is invited to the homecoming ceremonies at VFW Post 764 on Valley Brook Road in McMurray at 2:30 p.m.

There will be parking available at the Peters Township Municipal Building and at the middle school.

There will also be a benefit concert at Stage AE on Aug. 9, featuring Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band. For more information about tickets to the event, visit OperationDoug.com
