Mother, Sister Distraught Over Missing Woman

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A local family is sending out a plea for help. A young woman has been missing for nearly three weeks.

Her mother and sister fear she's in danger.

Stephanie Thomas is officials listed as a missing person. Moon Township Police have been working the case with help from the City of Pittsburgh Police.

There's been one mysterious text from Thomas' phone in the past few weeks and that's it. So they're hoping someone knows something that can bring her home.

"Three weeks and she's not here," said Thomas' mother Tina. "I keep trying to think she's going to walk through the door."

The heartache and fear of a mother who hasn't seen her daughter in 17 days. The 21-year-old left her Coraopolis home July 18, without telling her mom or her siblings where she was headed.

"I'm afraid she's hurt," Tina Thomas said. "I know people think she's run away, but Stephanie would never go this long. This is too long."

Moon Township Police interviewed friends and acquaintances and most recently got a tip that she might be in Pittsburgh on the city's North Side. Officers questioned residents there, but their stories changed and there was no sign of Stephanie.

"You see stuff like this on TV all the time," said her sister Katie Thomas. "It could never happen to you and something like this happens and it just changes your whole outlook on life."

"Somebody knows where she's at and I just want them to call me and tell me she's OK," she added.
