PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – The Pittsburgh Steelers are getting ready for the preseason opener, and Steelers’ insider Ed Bouchette from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette updates Vinnie & Cook with all the latest on Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan.

On Monday, DT Alameda Ta’amu received some good news, as he was reinstated from the Physically Unable to Perform list. But Bouchette thinks good news for Ta’amu could be in short supply going forward.

“I don’t know that Alameda is in any good position right now to make this team,” Bouchette says. “He fell behind in the spring and didn’t look very good. He came into camp with a hamstring injury and missed that entire first week. And there’s a guy or two in front of him who are fighting for that backup nose tackle position.”

Ed also reveals which rookies have performed well in camp so far, updates the health of the Steelers’ cornerbacks, and reveals some new roles for the Steelers’ defensive ends.
