Creagh: Polanco Exciting, But Needs Refinement

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- One of the Pirates top prospects was promoted to Class AA Altoona earlier this season. Gregory Polanco is hitting .263 for the Curve with 10 stolen bases. Kevin Creagh of SteelCityBuzz.com told Tab Douglas that Polanco still has some work to do.

"Polanco is definitely someone to get excited about, but he's not without some refinement still to his game," Creagh said. "He has a great left-handed swing, but it does have this interesting little loop hitch in it at the beginning that could potentially get exploited at higher levels."

Turning to the current Pirates, Douglas asked Creagh if it would be a good idea to set up the rotation so that turns are occasionally skipped.

"They are going to have to watch inning counts on people like Gerrit Cole, for instance," Creagh said. "So skipping him once every couple starts probably isn't that bad of an idea."

Pirates fans have been clamoring for Andrew Lambo to be called up from Indianapolis. Creagh thinks that Lambo could make his Pirates debut as early as this week against Arizona.

"I wouldn't be surprised to see Lambo here on Friday at PNC Park," Creagh said. "I think they're going to work with what they have on the current road trip, then possibly bring him up on Friday."
