Car Hit Gas Meter, Home Goes Up In Flames In Blairsville

BLAIRSVILLE (KDKA) -- An Indiana County home was destroyed when a car crashed into its gas meter, rupturing a gas line and starting a large fire Friday night.

It happened in the 100-block of Evans Avenue in Blairsville.

According to The Indiana Gazette, no one was at home when an elderly neighbor – identified as 85-year-old Dolores Forsha – lost control of her car while trying to pull into her garage, traveled across the road, went over the curb and then plowed into the gas meter.

Another neighbor helped the woman out of her car after the crash, The Indiana Gazette reports.

Both the car and the home caught fire.

No one was injured in the accident and fire.

However, the home sustained heavy damage, according to the The Indiana Gazette.
