MLB Network's Casey On NL Central, 'It's Going To Come Down To The End'

PITTSBURGH (93.7 THE FAN)--The Pirates have now fallen out of first place in the NL Central, after St. Louis' win last night. To talk about the divisional race, the Fan Morning Show reached out to former Pirate, Sean "The Mayor" Casey. You can watch "Case" on the MLB Network during their coverage of the Cardinals/Reds series tonight at 8 p.m.

"It's going to come down to the end," Casey said of the race to win the NL Central. It all comes down to pitching, usually. However, he said that when all three teams are pitching well, you are going to have to find ways to get runs to win games.

Jeff Locke has struggled in his last four starts, but Casey thinks that he can regain his form from earlier in the season when he made a run to the All-Star Game.

"He needs to slow things down," Casey said.

He thinks the key is finding the strike zone, which has been an issue.

Playoff experience could factor into the Pirates run as well.

"I thinks experience definitely weighs in," Casey said. But, there are guys like A.J. Burnett, Russell Martin, and Jason Grilli who have made deep post-season runs, giving the team experience.
