Linebacker Sylvester Returns To Steelers, Wilson Cut

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- The Steelers continue to shake up a defense that has yet to force a single turnover as it prepares for red-hot rookie quarterback Geno Smith and the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium Sunday at 1:00 on KDKA-TV.

The team has re-signed linebacker Stevenson Sylvester, making room for the training camp refugee by cutting linebacker Kion Wilson.

Sylvester, 25, was among the final cuts of camp Aug. 25. Originally drafted by the Steelers with their third of three fifth-round selections in 2010, he has appeared in 41 career games and four postseason contests, where the Utah alumnus recorded 23 tackles and two forced fumbles on special teams.

Wilson, a third-year free agent who had brief stints in San Diego and Carolina, started in Week 2 at Cincinnati and in Week 3 against the Bears in lieu of Larry Foote, who is out for the season with a triceps injury. Rookie Vince Williams took his spot in the Steelers' 34-27 loss to the Vikings in London two weeks ago.

The other notable change to the Steelers' depth chart for this approaching Sunday was younger Cam Heyward replacing veteran Ziggy Hood at left defensive end.

Pregame coverage Sunday gets underway on SportsRadio 93.7 The Fan with Chris Mueller at 9:00 A.M.
