"Pittsburgh Dad" Honored With His Own Smiley Cookie
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- "How's come this place is called Eat n' Park instead of Park n' Eat? Maybe there's something on the Wickerpedia about it."
With those words, the Internet sensation known as "Pittsburgh Dad" opens this week's segment.
This time, "Dad" achieves a tasty hint of immortality, as his face appears on the restaurant chain's iconic Smiley Cookie.
Actor Curt Wootton and producer Chris Preksta have produced nearly 100 Pittsburgh Dad clips in the past two years.
"We kind of fly by the seat of our pants sometimes," Wootton says. "We call in favors, tell people to help us out. Get locations. It's still homegrown."
"From day one," Preksta adds, "all of Pittsburgh Dad has been shot on an iPhone. Still to this day, we're still shooting on an iPhone."
"We show up at the Eat n' Park with an iPhone and we don't have a mike," Wootton says. "So I'm screaming. People are actually eating at Eat n' Park. Are we disturbing you? Oh, he's not really angry, folks."
This time there's a method to their madness. All profits from Pittsburgh Dad Smiley Cookies, which are only available online, will go to Children's Hospital to mark the 35th year of the restaurant's Caring for Kids campaign.
