Bouchette: "The Running Game Was Encouraging"

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Post-Gazette Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette told The Fan Morning Show in his regular weekly spot that the two most encouraging things he saw from the Steelers' 19-16 win over the Ravens was the play of the offensive line and the running game.

"The running game was encouraging yesterday," Bouchette said.

Rookie running back Le'Veon Bell played his best game to date. He probably would have been the first 100-yard rusher for the Steelers this season had they not have used Felix Jones late.

"Maybe we are seeing him emerge now," Bouchette said.

One thing that did emerge for the Steelers yesterday was the wildcat offense. It took everyone by surprise. It may not continue, but if it does head coach Mike Tomlin pointed out that they would need to add a couple of wrinkles.

"Shame on them if they don't use it again because it worked," Bouchette said. "Use it until they stop it."

The Steelers might not be back in the mix just yet, but winning their second straight kept their hopes alive.

Next up is a west coast trip to Oakland for a 4 p.m. kickoff.

Bouchette points out that Oakland has not always been kind to the Steelers, the Raiders are beatable and if they are truly going to turn this around then they need to go there and win.
