Sewickley Academy Teacher Fired, Under Federal Investigation

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Sewickley Academy teacher is under a federal investigation, after inappropriate conduct also cost him his job.

The fifth grade teacher was fired Friday and his computer was confiscated after inappropriate photographs were found.

The school said it was in violation of the school's code of behavior for employees.

The FBI, Allegheny County District Attorney's office and Child Welfare Services are involved.
The DA released a statement Monday saying: "Administrators at Sewickley Academy recently referred a matter concerning a staff member to the FBI Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force, of which our office is a member. We are in the process of reviewing certain materials provided to the task force by the school administration."

Sewickley Academy also released a statement, saying: "Sewickley Academy has always had and continues to have an unshakable commitment to the health, safety and welfare of our students, and the overreaching goal in all that we do is to protect our community's members. Our actions in recent days are consistent with that unwavering commitment."

Sewickley Academy is said to have a zero-tolerance policy for any sort of inappropriate behavior by faculty.
