2 Teens Injured In Washington Co. Crash

NORTH FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Two teenagers were injured in a Thursday morning crash in Washington County.

According to police, the accident happened on Park Avenue in North Franklin Township around 7:30 a.m.

A brother and sister were flown to Children's Hospital.

One of the teens has been identified as 18-year-old Bricelyn Meerdo, a senior at Trinity High School. She was the driver. Her younger brother was the passenger.

It is believed the driver of the Meerdo vehicle crossed the center line and hit an oncoming vehicle.

"The young lady was driving northbound in a Mercury Topaz and a Jeep Grand Cherokee was heading southbound on Park Avenue; and according to witness statements, she crossed the double yellow lines, striking the Jeep head on," said Sgt. Ron Fox, of North Franklin Police.

Police are still trying to determine what caused her to cross the line.

"She was very hysterical and all she wanted me to do was call her mom," said Kelli Murphy, a witness.

Meanwhile, students at Trinity High School are praying for a quick and full recovery for their classmates.

"She's on my lacrosse team," said Megan Murphy, Bricelyn's classmate. "She's a real sweet girl. She's a really nice girl, energetic. I hope that everything's okay.

The driver of the other vehicle, 31-year-old Anthony LeGreco, was not hurt.

The brother and sister remain in Children's Hospital. There conditions are not being released.
