Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette: Too Early To Put Steelers Into Playoff Talk

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Post-Gazette Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette joined the guys on The Fan Morning Show following the Steelers' 37-27 win over the Detroit Lions to improve to 4-6.

The win keeps their playoff hopes alive, but Ed doesn't buy it just yet.

"It's too early to put Steelers and playoffs together in the same sentence," Bouchette said. "It's ridiculous to say playoffs now, but win two more games and everyone can jump on the bandwagon."

Ed said that it felt like the Steelers were down 27-0 after that second quarter, but they were only down seven at the half. While it was still a game, it didn't feel that way.

The Steelers, after giving up 27 points in the second quarter, did not yield another point in the game. That allowed quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to work his vintage magic and get a comeback win.

Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson looked to be on pace for a record-setting day in that second quarter. However,  he was shutout the rest of the game.

"Ike Taylor looked as bad as we have seen him. Then, he doesn't catch a thing in the second half," Bouchette said. "It was just one bad quarter."

The Steelers may not be in the playoff talk just yet, but the schedule could provide a case for optimism. A win over a good Lions team does as well.

"The sun is shining again in Pittsburgh," Bouchette said.
