Man Injured After Being Hit By Car In Mt. Lebanon

MOUNT LEBANON (KDKA) - A man was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in Mount Lebanon Tuesday night.

According to police, the accident happened in the 700-block of Washington Road around 8:30 p.m.

Mt. Lebanon Police said at this time, the 17-year-old driver has not been charged, but police are still investigating.

According to police, the teen was behind the wheel of a Jeep Liberty when he hit 30-year-old Michael Joseph Puccio.

"The driver of the vehicle traveling north didn't see him and struck him," Mt. Lebanon Police Chief Coleman McDonough said. "Mr. Puccio is still in critical condition at Mercy Hospital."

Police would not reveal much about the driver, only that he was not a resident of Mount Lebanon. Police said Puccio was wearing dark clothing and was jaywalking when he was hit.

"We're in the middle of our investigation. We've talked to a lot of witnesses. We've gathered physical evidence at the scene. We've looked at the vehicle as well, but it's going to take a little time to put the findings together," Chief McDonough said.

Investigators will be reconstructing the accident and trying to determine if speed was a factor or anything else played a role. They're also planning on re-interviewing witnesses.

"We don't anticipate charging anyone at this time, but at this early part of the investigation we can't rule anything out," Chief McDonough said.

Anyone with information is asked to call them at (412)-343-4015.
