Mild Temperatures On Way Out As Rain, Sleet & Snow Move In

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A variety of weather changes will be happening across the area during the next few days.

Rain has settled in and was even accompanied, briefly, by thunderstorms this morning south of Pittsburgh.

The rain will continue, moderately heavy at times through evening.

Temperatures are still mild with a high of 64.

However, tonight it will turn colder with occasional shower activity and a low of 35.

Then, as temperatures continue to chill, the rain will mix with sleet Friday morning for several hours, and then change to snow in the afternoon.

We can expect two to four inches of accumulation of snow and sleet by evening, leading to slippery conditions during the Friday evening rush hour.

The Port Authority also announced the that the Mon Wharf will be closed Friday. Additional parking is available at the First and Second Avenue garages.

The snow will end then, and Friday night, we'll have a low of 25.

It looks dry but cold for Saturday with more clouds than sun and a high of 31.

For Sunday, our next weather system brings snow during the morning, changing to sleet and freezing rain during the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the 30s.

Precipitation could change to all rain Sunday night as temperatures rise into Monday morning.

It could well be back into the 40s by Monday morning, but then colder air takes hold. Temperatures fall during the day Monday with rain changing back to snow.

Plan now for extra travel time as you go about your activities the next several days.
