McCANDLESS (KDKA) — A lockdown was lifted late this morning for three schools in the North Allegheny School District.

Police were called to the district’s Cumberland Campus when there was a report of a person with a weapon.

It started around 10:15 a.m.

Authorities say a student at North Allegheny Intermediate School reported seeing a suspicious person outside of the building.

A large contingent of police officers from McCandless Township, Allegheny County and other areas were called to the campus.

Police conducted a thorough search of the area and later declared it was safe and clear.

By 11:15 a.m., the lock down was lifted at the intermediate school, McKnight Elementary and Carson Middle School.
