PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – What color is Santa Claus? Recently, a teacher at a high school in New Mexico was disciplined after a student told his parents that the teacher told him Santa was black.

The students were given the option of dressing up as either a reindeer, elf or Santa Claus. But when an African American boy came dressed as Santa, the teacher said, “Don’t you know Santa is white?”

KDKA’s Mike Pintek posed the question to his listeners. What did they think Santa looked like? And did it even matter what color he was? He even dug deep into people’s minds and wanted to know if they’ve ever considered what race Jesus was.

“I grew up believing Santa was white and the black family next to me believed their Santa was black,” said caller Donna. “We never even questioned why.”
