Downtown Water Main Break

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- Crews were busy this morning in downtown Pittsburgh, cleaning up an icy water main break.

It happened just after 3:00 a.m. in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue, near Wood Street.

Water sprayed high into the air and ended up covering the street, sidewalk and everything else with ice.

Road crews quickly worked to cap the water line. They also called in a big truck to scrape up some of the ice and salt the area.

The intersection was reopened around 5:00 a.m.

Some of the water from the break ended up in the storage area of The Carlyle building. None of the luxury apartments above were effected.
